From Combat to Cultivation: The Story Behind The Memo

Every brand has a story. Ours began in the aftermath of war.

Before we grew clean, precision cannabis in Northern New Mexico, we served in uniform—on missions where survival came first and self-care didn’t exist. We came home with experience, resilience, and wounds most people never saw. Kyle served as a Marine Corps Master Sergent and Infantryman with multiple deployments to Afghanistan and Iraq. Ivy served in the U.S. Army as a Behavioral Health Non-Commissioned Officer. Together, we built The Memo as a message:

You don’t need to suffer in silence. There’s a better way to feel.

What if no one ever gave you the memo?

That sentence changed everything. Because the truth is, most people—especially veterans and high-performers—never got one. No one told us how to heal. How to feel. How to stop pushing through the pain like it was a badge of honor. That’s when The Memo became our mission.

From an Abandoned Theater to a Veteran-Owned Grow Facility

We didn’t inherit land or money. We found an abandoned movie theater in rural New Mexico—popcorn buckets still on the floor—and saw opportunity. So we got to work. With grit, sweat, and a few trusted friends, we:

  • Built our hydroponic grow rooms by hand
  • Installed sterile systems and high-efficiency equipment
  • Created our own precision hydroponic grow method with no pesticides and no shortcuts

Every pipe. Every wall. Every light. We installed it. We tested it. We built it with integrity, structure, and discipline—values we carried from the military into the cannabis space.

We grow using Recirculating Deep Water Culture (RDWC) because it produces cleaner, more consistent flower. No soil. No pests. No guesswork. Just pure water, clean nutrients, and sterile systems that keep your body and mind in focus. People trust us because we never cut corners. You feel the difference in every batch.

We created The Memo for anyone who’s ever carried more than their share—and needed a place to put it down.

We grow for:

  • The overthinker who just wants peace of mind
  • The parent holding it all together
  • The veteran searching for better
  • The friend who always shows up for everyone else

And yes, we grow for ourselves too. Because we’re still healing—right alongside you. “We’re not selling hype. We’re sharing what helped us heal—and building a space where others can too.” — Kyle Masterson, CEO & Co-Founder, The Memo
