The Memo Leads Groundbreaking Veterans Day Access Initiative Across New Mexico
NEW MEXICO — November 12, 2024 — In a bold statewide effort, The Memo, New Mexico’s veteran-built premium flower brand, led a first-of-its-kind Veterans Day initiative to provide more affordable access to clean, high-quality cannabis for veterans—sparking a movement that redefined what it means to truly support those who served.
Through strategic partnerships with values-aligned dispensaries, The Memo distributed full-sized 3.5g units of its premium product—for one cent—to verified veterans, delivering real relief, not just recognition.
“This wasn’t about discounts,” said Kyle Masterson, co-founder and retired Marine Corps Infantry Master Sergeant. “This was about making healing tangible—giving veterans access to something that works.”
Healing Over Hype: Why This Initiative Mattered
In collaboration with House of Flowers (Chaparral, NM) and Impact Farms Dispensary and Rolling Center (Albuquerque, NM), The Memo executed the only initiative in the state offering full-size therapeutic flower to veterans—no coupons, no gimmicks, no fine print.
These handpicked retailers didn’t hesitate—they activated their veteran networks, made personal phone calls, and cleared shelf space for something bigger than sales.
“They didn’t blink,” said Ivy Masterson, co-founder, Army veteran, and former federal behavioral health strategist. “They said: ‘Whatever it takes to honor veterans—let’s do it.’ That’s what partnership looks like.”
From Symbolic to Substantial: A Statewide Ripple Effect
As word spread, other dispensaries across New Mexico joined the mission, creating a ripple effect that elevated cannabis from product to purpose—a step toward normalizing its role in mental health, chronic pain, and post-service restoration.
This effort also positioned The Memo as a market leader in socially conscious cannabis, proving that healing, not hype, builds community.
“This is what real equity looks like,” Kyle added. “Not performative. Just real impact for the people who carried the weight.”
Looking Ahead: Year-Round Access Programs
Building on the momentum of the 2024 initiative, over the next few years The Memo will:
• Launch a Veterans Access Collective
• Offer pre-registration for veterans to receive year-round relief
• Partner with mental health professionals and caregivers to expand education
• Invite more retailers to join a mission-first retail coalition across New Mexico
This is more than a one-day event. It’s a blueprint for how cannabis—and the community around it—can do better.
